Ahhh vintage – you will never go out of style, especially in Springfield. What is better than having oodles of shops reminiscent of times long gone? Having a neo-vintage fashion show highlighting said styles and eras!
It was held in AVBS located downtown Springfield. This chic boutique hair salon was large enough to house one heck of a fashion extravaganza put on by the queens of vintage in SGF- Becca and Kaycie from Gritty Luxe.
The Vintage Fashion Show Line-Up
The pieces Becca and Kaycie put together were featured from local boutique shops such as Decades Boutique and Arts and Letters. I got to hang out with Jina, owner of Decades Boutique and she is a doll – we talked about everything from parenting to being single mothers and how awesome the event was. I can’t wait to check out her shop!
The models looked stunning, and I would expect nothing less from our Springfield fashionistas, and their team of hair and make-up artists. One of the things I loved about all of their events and their trendy website is their models are not expected to all fit in a size 0 garment. Nope – that is out of style! This show celebrated everyone’s sexy curves, and the dynamic duo did one heck of a job finding pieces that flattered and accentuated the various figures.
If I HAD to say who my favorite model was (and I don’t but I am going to anyways), it was definitely Sophia (I think that is how to spell her name). I didn’t actually get a chance to talk to her – I eavesdropped a bit. Don’t act like you’ve never done that. She had flare and attitude while donning retro elegant apparel – it made my knees weak. Hands down, all the models were uber classy and did a fabulous job. Even our fellow WeDamer, Celine Roberts, got to strut her stuff down the catwalk. So sassy!!
AVBS – A Salon to Remember
First and foremost, many people call this place AVBS (including google and google maps) – just wanted to get that out of the way to avoid any confusion. What does it stand for? A Valeria Boss Salon – a premier Paul Mitchell Salon, and it is located conveniently in downtown Springfield on 318 S. Campbell Avenue.
You could tell who the stylists were throughout the shindig – they were dressed in either black, white or both and all had this fabulous dark lipstick ranging from deep plums and cherries to gray and black…except for the male stylists. They must have opted not to wear these luscious shades. It may sound goth but with their hair and makeup looking fab, the lipstick choice turned out to be a very trendy look.
I have attended fashion shows in Malaysia and Singapore, and I have to say that while the Brazilian swimsuit designers and posh Latin trends are huge there, I will always have a special place in my heart for all things vintage. And this is a hard show to beat! Check out the Gritty Luxe FaceBook page to find out when their next one is – maybe we will bump into each other!
