There is definitely a theme to this magazine – especially in our “On the Rocks” section – and that theme has a lot to do with Mimosas. And with Starbucks recent launch of their short-lived Unicorn Frappe – the diabetes-inducing flavor-changing mouthful of sugar sure to keep you high for days – we asked ourselves, “Why not make a Unicorn mimosa?” It’s like a frappe, but it’s more adulty (by “adulty” we mean full of alcohol).
We googled it and lo’ and behold, Unicorn mimosas actually exist. I was so happy – this could be the perfect cocktail to have at your bachelorette party in Springfield, Mo! Nothing says fab like this concoction. And by the way, unicorns ARE real and have been caught on camera here.
Ingredients for the Unicorn Mimosa include:
Edible glitter or confetti
Orange or Raspberry Sorbet
Champagne (I prefer a brut so as to not make it overly sweet with the sorbet)
- Pour edible colorful glitter onto a plate, wet the rim of a Champagne flute, and rim the glass with edible glitter.
- Add a couple scoops of sorbet to each Champagne flute.
- Add a shot of vodka into each Champagne flute.
- Pour Champagne over sorbet and fill to the top.
- Garnish with Candy Straws.
Although WeDames would LOVE to take credit for this uh-mazingly magical drink, we actually found a few recipes online, all stemming from a Cosmopolitan article. What will they think of next? The lady who created this recipe was a food stylist named Tyna Hoang and if I ever met her in real life, I would definitely and enthusiastically shake her hand.
ANYWHO – back to this wonderful woman’s creation – the Unicorn Mimosa mixes dessert, adulting and childhood fantasies into one uh-mazing concoction. And the best part is this drink actually pairs with some interesting food combos!
Foods that Pair with the Unicorn Mimosa
The sweetness of the Unicorn Mimosa can be complimented nicely with savory and salty dishes such as popcorn or mixed nuts. I kid – I am no Tyna Hoang! I honestly think this bad-boy goes perfect as a dessert – so eat whatever it is you are eating, wait for 15 minutes and top off your evening, or brunch, with this fantastic drink. Personally, I love it!
Cheers (literally and figuratively)!
