Valentine’s day has passed and with it came a slew of wedding proposals. This inevitably brought about a ton of wedding plans, catering inquiries and bachelor and bachelorette arrangements and party planning! With the birth of these matrimonial intentions underway, it is important for betrothed couples and wedding planners alike to familiarize themselves with the new trends each year brings. Last year we saw burlap colors and fabrics coupled with neutral tones while highlighting one main color for wedding themes. The dawn of 2018, however, sees the marital scene leaning towards deeper moody wedding colors and palettes and different fabrics and textures. For example, bohemian and new age styles are replacing rustic this year and Earthy tones are somewhat still in but are taking a more dramatic turn!
Let’s peruse through some of the 2018 wedding trends which will undeniably grace the Springfield, MO. market.
Wedding Trends for 2018
Whether an indoor or outdoor wedding, living bars are coming into play which means vines, creeping plants and floral accents will be all the rage at weddings throughout the nation.
Potted plants galore
These are great to line the aisles and to accent otherwise dark corners – the green leafy plants adds a lovely natural element to any wedding.
Smaller, more intimate wedding parties
Big weddings are now turning into smaller, more personalized weddings with just a few close friends and relatives. In fact, some people are opting to simply have small engagement parties as opposed to having to go through the stress of planning a large ceremony.
Nontraditional wedding venues
Traditional wedding venues are taking a backseat this year. Couples are trading out churches and conference rooms for loft spaces, rooftops and even museums!
Laser-cut overlays, lace, velvet, and furs will be on tables, chairs and heck – why not throw in a few pillows for good measure? All this and more will add to the comfort of your guests while being aesthetically appealing.
Hanging floral arrangements, vines, and more featuring dogwood, cat’s tail, Cornus and baby breath will be found in many a reception this year.
Vibe over Décor
This year, couples are going more for how the guests feel over how the wedding looks. Personally, I like this trend. It is nice to want to make the guests feel welcomed, relaxed and in a celebratory mood. It makes for a more memorable wedding in my opinion!
Statement Card Displays
Table displays, seating charts, you name it – there are a million and one ways you can do up your card displays! Balloons, floral picture frames, bird cages, bows and arrows, potted plants, glass bottles, lace butterflies, or even photos of guests with their table number on the back are all great ways to get out of the box and into 2018!
There is nothing quite like a surprise at a wedding, be it a choreographed performance by the bridesmaids and groomsmen, an unpredictable dance by the bride and groom, or a surprise debut by a local band! This is sure to keep everyone at the edge of their seats!
Signature Eats and Experiential Dining
Everything from lamb curry to sashimi or even a bit of roasted duck is expected to show up on guests dinner plates this year. It would seem people are tiring of the same old thing and are expanding their horizons gastronomically.
Passed Cake Bites
By the time the cake gets to the guests, half of them are showing off their moves on the dance floor! Instead of passing out cake per table, waiters and waitresses can now bring wedding cake bites to the guests regardless of where they are during the wedding!
Wedding dresses with sleeves, be it lace, silk or some other fabric, will be all the rage this year. They say class is having everything to flaunt but choosing not to – and what better way to display class than by covering up the goods?
