I can’t think of anything more important than spending time with family. And while quality family time at home is great, it may be in your highest interest to get out there and try some new activities with your children!
Sure, you could send them to a summer camp, but nothing creates memories like doing something out of the ordinary with your kids.
Things to do with Kids in Springfield Missouri
Aside from boasting both local and international animals, this zoo is a great place to bring your kids. The zoo admission is reasonable, and while your children are learning about animals, there are additional fun things they can engross themselves in such as arts and crafts and other educational programs.
Miniature Golf is only the half of it at Fun Acre: they have batting cages too! Not only is the price incredibly reasonable, but you can be sure that you AND your children will have a fun time as well.
Located just outside Springfield, Missouri in a town called Strafford, this fun drive-through experience shows off over 70 different species of animals and will leave you and your children breathless.
Offering camps and courses in both the summer and the winter, the Libby Ferguson Training Center also offers hourly private sessions and trail rides. Whether you are looking to become a professional rider or gain basic competency for riding, this is one place to consider.
Who doesn’t like jumping, climbing and bouncing around? Whether you are looking to schedule a birthday party, or wanting a place where your kids can blow off some pent-up energy, Jumpmania is awesome. And if you have toddlers, don’t worry. They can join in on the fun as well in the toddler section!
Skating enthusiasts and bikers alike are welcome here. There are children as young as four years old that come to bike and skate with the best of them. Starting in summer of 2016, they will have skate camps available for children as well!
Over 80 video games are available in this arcade between the first floor and the bonus floor, and let’s not forget about pinball! They are open Wednesday through Saturday from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
Fancy a little ice skating? Who doesn’t? Especially when the summer heat waves hit. Recreational skating is available as well as figure skating and even ice hockey. Be sure to check this place out for family fun!
Though the minimum age is 10, this is another great way to destress as a family! But be aware that everyone will have to sign a waiver, and if your kids are under 18 then you may have to vouch for them as parents/guardians and sign on their behalf.
There is nothing like hitting up the batting cages on a warm summer night, and balls-n-strikes has just what you need to release some of that stress that has been building! They even offer hourly or half hourly coaching sessions to those that have challenges with eye and hand coordination (like me).
- Bowling at Andy B’s
If you are looking for a bowling alley that offers kiddie bumpers, this is definitely the place to go. Additionally, they have lazer tag as well which makes for some fun family bonding!
Also known as Springfield Botanical Gardens, this place is great fun if your children are more educationally inclined and like learning about plants, gardening and in perusing through the butterfly house!
This place brings me back to when I was a kid! The Springfield Nature Center has hiking trails, permits for hunting and fishing, and the opportunity to observe wildlife in its’ natural habitat.
This place is fun for kids of all ages! I like to think of it as edu-tainment because you play, learn and have tons of fun! Check out this gem located in downtown Springfield!
