Patton Alley Pub has been a downtown fixture since 2002. A splash of Missouri old-world lines its’ walls with buffalo and boars heads while the bearded men of the joint (including both staff and patrons) give it a post-modern hipster feel. Patton Alley Pub has become the premier place in Springfield for outstanding brews from around the globe, as well as the home for American craft beer. This establishment doesn’t just stand out because of their decor and beer selection, they house one of Springfield’s most incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. I would know, I have worked there for over 10 years!
Springfield is ripe with fantastic breweries, such as Mother’s Brewing Co. and White River Brewery, Patton Alley Pub is well aware of the people’s love for these beverages brewed smack dab in the middle of our city. Patton Alley Pub seems to jump at the chance of featuring all the local brews they can. Trying to pick one of the 45 drafts is a daunting task, but as simple as this may sound, all you need to do is ask the staff for information on any one of them and presto- the task becomes an adventure.
If you don’t want to choose only one, they offer flight’s which give you five 3-ounce tasters of your choice. No need to settle! Another cool thing about their beer, if you’ve traveled abroad, or tried a foreign beer before that you thoroughly enjoyed but are having a hard time finding it anywhere, go to Patton Alley Pub- they are likely to have it. If they don’t, they will find something you will love just as much.
Copper Run Distillery and Missouri Spirits produce excellent products, are local, and Patton Alley Pub fans love them. They carry these products, in-house, at all times! As I said before, this is the premier place to get what you want, from the places you love. With an emphasis on American liquor, Patton Alley Pub is always looking for the best distilleries and their products to present to their patrons. Their Beverage Director, Joe Gilden, is constantly looking for what is new and hot:

That being said, a great way to keep up with Patton Alley Pub’s ever changing stock is to visit their website, thepattonalleypub.com.
What is it about battering and frying some fish that is so deeply satisfying? They think the answer to that question is their primal desire for something crunchy on the outside, melt in your mouth juicy on the inside, and all around sheer perfection. We all want to warm our insides with the memories of long summer days sitting on the shore fishing peacefully for the sucker that’s going to bite. The thing about those memories is, it was warm then. Unfortunately, we have a couple more months to wait until sitting on a shore won’t involve shivering and wondering why you are there at all, when Patton is just down the road with indoor heat! Well, we want to keep that from happening to anyone so WeDames is featuring Patton’s always available Fish & Chips.
First, they take 2, three-ounce pieces of succulent cod and toss them lovingly in their secret Patton Alley spice blend. Once they are pleasingly coated, the fillets are dipped in Patton Alley Pub’s Beer Batter. From there they are fried up until perfectly golden brown. Next, the perfection cod is lain on a bed of crisp lettuce, garnish with lemon wedges and parsley, and topped off with a side of their famous waffle cut fries. Hmmm, something is
missing, though. Bah! How about Patton’s homemade tartar sauce and some malt vinegar?Good thing they never forget the finishing touches. Upgrade the whole experience by asking our stafffor the Double Fish & Chips!
And if you love cheese, their cheese fondue, or as they love to call it, cheese crack is always available. Fun little tidbit, cheese is actually addictive. Check out this great article here from the Los Angeles Times! Turns out Patton Alley Pub is spot-on with their beloved nickname for their unrivaled Cheese Fondue.
The Happenings At Patton Alley Pub
Patton Alley Pub has been the home of the St. Pat’s Parade Award Ceremony for ten years and it has always been such an amazing experience. People pour through the door dressed as leprechauns, giant I-don’t-know-whats, all in green, and everyone becomes Irish!
They line up at the bar, take seats at the tables, laugh excitedly amongst themselves, and discuss who they think won what award in each category. The staff moves swiftly and elegantly through the crowd, slinging drinks and delivering Irish Stew and Corn Beef & Cabbage. Green beer is being poured behind the bar to be served up with a smile. The entire experience is one to remember.
The Irish band begins to play and the crowd erupts in a frenzy to show off their Irish dance moves, find a partner to spin in circles with, or just sit back and watch the fun. The award ceremony begins and all quiet down, eyes fixated on the judges, hoping to hear their name called. After each announcement the crowd whoops and hollers and the staff giggles. It is all great fun!
The parade began at 2 pm on Historic C-Street, ending at the Downtown Square around 3 or 3:30. Live Irish music begins at Patton Alley Pub at 3:30 until 4:45, award ceremony begins at 5 to 6 pm, followed by more live Irish music! Though the award ceremony eventually comes to a close, the fun doesn’t stop there. Following the Awards, all of downtown Springfield comes alive for the annual St. Pat’s Pub Crawl which begins at 9 pm and runs until closing time.
