Free food, free drinks, and free goodies? Must be a timeshare presentation! In actuality, it was Ladies’ Night Out – a fun, pitch-free experience where women can come, relax and unwind with other awesome women in Springfield, Mo over a glass of wine, or two…Oh! And dress up all pretty-like for each other.
So what happened during this Girls Night Out on March 29th, 2017 in the back room of Ocean Zen? I could tell ya, but I’d hafta kill ya….seeing as I abhor the thought of violence and death, I’ll let it go this time and tell you anyways…
Our VILs (Very Important Ladies)of the evening started showing up around 5:45pm and immediately started greeting one another. I grabbed the camera while a resident WeDude manned the registration table, and the night took off! Below is a slideshow of the happenings for the evening (brace yourself, though – there are over 50 photographs).
The food came out, and it was tantalizing! Ocean Zen supplied us with delectable appetizers:
An Asian Pear Salad,
Chicken Teriyaki Skewers,
Pork and Veggie Potstickers and
Tomato, basil, and mozzarella on top of crostini with a dash of balsamic glaze.
It was perfect! For the drinks, ladies in attendance had their choice of soda, wine or beer. Moscato seemed to be the theme of the evening. After a couple of those, we were all long-lost gal pals who couldn’t stop talking to one another.
The rest of the festivities started around 6:30pm, where we got to see what treasures lay within the goodie bags. After our icebreaker game, a young chap found his way into our room and offered to (ahem) dance and de-robe for us. Our resident WeDude was on the scene in about half a second and ushered him out of the room hurriedly. Some of the ladies in the audience were looking around the room with a quizzical “what kind of event is this” expression on their faces. After assuring them the exotic dancing gentleman was not on the agenda, we proceeded with the evening. This is where things got interesting – we passed the floor over to Michele Rickman!
Dressing for Your Body Type with Michele Rickman
One of the things I LOVE about Michele is the way she empowers women. She does so by supporting women to embrace their body shape (after all, we all don’t have Elizabeth Cloud’s awesome physique). Once you embrace what you’ve got, whether those are curves (or in my case, a lack thereof), you can dress according to your body type while looking and feeling fabulous about it! This was one of the most informative talks I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to. I learned further distinctions on how to dress in a way which accentuates what the good Lord has blessed me with.
As for the other lovely ladies and gents who sponsored Ladies’ Night Out, they filled our goodie bags and grand prizes FULL of lovely items.
Special thanks to our partners-in-crime, without whom the event would not be possible:
Kerri Ferris from Grove Spa for the lip and cheek stain,
Amy Hunsaker-Williams for two weeks of unlimited yoga classes for ladies and a friend at Laid Down Life Yoga Studio,
Xiao Ya Creative team for the candles, the candle and wax warmers, the chocolates,
and Tammy Messier for the compact mirrors.
All in all, we at WeDames had a lovely time and can’t wait for the next event! If you want to be kept in the loop and be added to the text list for future Ladies’ Nights Out, send your name and the message “add me to your LNO text list” to (417) 650-8041.
Cheers (literally and figuratively)!
