Fall is such a pretty season, and it’s even prettier when seeing it through rose-colored glasses…and by rose-colored I mean after having a red wine spritzer or two! One of the things I love about this drink is it goes perfect with meaty BBQs, or warm summer nights spent on the patio or balcony watching the sun go down and listening to the crickets chirp.
It’s light, often fruity and refreshing, and has less alcohol than a glass of wine….unless you are making an end of summer wine spritzer, that is. It marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall – ending summer with a bang and beginning fall with a party is a must!

Food that Goes With Red Wine Spritzers
Salty and smoky are great flavors which pair well with the sweetness of a cabernet sauvignon spritzer. Additionally, fatty tastes from pates and terrines served with crackers and fruit spread also go well with this libation.
Sweet and Sour Saucy Meatballs,
Summer sausage on crackers with balsamic glaze, oregano and mozzarella,
Charcuterie board with chorizo, beef carpaccio, salami, fatty cheeses and grapes,
Braised beef short ribs,
Beef stir fry with fresh cooked or pickled ginger,
Rosemary beef tenderloin,
Roasted veggie tarts,
Roasted chipotle salsa with chips,
Stuffed jalapeno poppers,
Cheeses That Pair with Red Wine Spritzer
Aged Gouda, Camembert, Cheddar, Colby, Danish Blue, Gorgonzola, Parmesan, Blue cheese, Roquefort,
Brie on crostini with granny smith apple slices also has a nice touch with red wine spritzers.

All in all, this particular recipe packs a little more punch than your typical wine spritzer because of the vodka, but it is sure to keep the party going! This is definitely a must-have at your end of summer beginning of fall party – just remember to invite me along Springfield, Mo!
