Pets are members of the family regardless whether they crawl, slither, fly, swim, jump or walk, and petsitting services are few and far between in Springfield. My first pet was a goldfish I won at the fair. Normally fair fish don’t last that long, but Copernicus sure did….until my dad (worst petsitting service ever) cleaned the tank with bleach and killed my precious. THEN he had the audacity to flush him down the toilet. I was not a happy camper – this experience left me cold, bitter and with an empty heart. Alas, I haven’t had a pet since.
I remember staying with my little sister when my daughter was born, and she had a black Labrador who she INSISTED was my daughter’s cousin… I even have the pics to prove it!
Cute, I know (I made one of them after all), but what we are supposed to be talking about here is the lovely Janna Elliston – owner of Bark in the Park petsitting services here in Springfield, Missouri and surrounding areas.
What is Bark in the Park? Petsitting services you say?
Bark in the Park is petsitting on a whole other level. Have you ever wanted to take a holiday but had to leave your beloved fur-baby behind? It can be stressful trying to figure out where your pet can stay, who is worthy of watching your beloved, and how long they can go without you. Instead of stressing your pet out, they can enjoy the comforts of a familiar environment (your home) while Janna greets them, plays with them, feeds and waters them and, when necessary, gives them medicine.
Benefits of Hiring Bark in the Park Petsitting Services
- Who needs a kennel?
While kennels are often needed in certain situation, they do have a tendency of stressing out some pets. Keep in mind different pets have different stress triggers – some may be perfectly happy in a kennel where others may show definite signs of stress.
If that isn’t enough, kennels can often be pricey – going up to $45 a night depending on the size of your pet.
- What about doggie daycare?
Doggie daycare can be fun for your pooch (so long as his personality allows for the kind of stressors you will find at a doggie daycare), but again, pricing can be a bit much. A full day of doggie daycare can run you in the vicinity of $26, and a month of doggie daycare is comparable to children’s daycare (which isn’t exactly cheap in Springfield, Mo.)
The downside to doggie daycare is it is usually just a daytime thing. However, many doggie daycares offer boarding for their animal guests, but this starts at around $15 a night (for cats) or $37 a night (for dogs).
- Bark in the Park with Janna Elliston
Bark in the Park is a much more reasonable and stress-free alternative for people and their furry owners. Janna visits client’s homes anywhere from one to four times a day to hang out with your pet, play with them, feed them, water them and administer medicine if necessary. Cuddles are always free, as are slobbery kisses. Janna’s service runs around $15 per visit for those within the Springfield area and within a 15-mile radius of SE Springfield. Not too shabby…
Who is Janna Elliston Aside from Being Owner of Bark in the Park?
Janna is one of those ladies who has seen it all – she’s had her share of ups and downs in life and is all the better for it. She started Bark in the Park because she had a creative idea, a passion for animals, and she just HAD to launch her own business. She has cared for family pets and has loved animals for as long as she could remember.
As a child, she used to watch her neighbors show dogs and this experience stuck with her. Of course, she went on to other things – she worked in radio and other creative avenues in the advertising and marketing industries, and she feels it all led up to this point. Her years of experience culminating and building up all to that one point where BOOM! Bark in the Park was born.
She is anything but lazy – she is a full-time student (working on her masters in non-profit leadership), has four children, AND she has a full-time job. In other words, keeping up with your pet will NOT be a problem for this fireball!
In short, Bark in the Park is an extension of Janna’s love, joy and expertise – fueled by passion, coffee and a love of animals!
